Financial Advice

We encourage you to talk to us at Bethsalem Care to allow us to demonstrate how we can meet your needs and those of your loved ones. Any financial information we provide, is general in nature so we strongly recommend obtaining competent and professional financial advice specific to your needs as they relate to Aged Care. This is a complex area of financial advice and we can suggest some independent financial advisers.

Accommodation Pricing - All residential aged care providers are required to publish a MAXIMUM accommodation price.

Our spacious single rooms with en-suites are valued at $450,000. An Accommodation Price Agreement will be prepared for you and must be signed before entry to Bethsalem Care.

Methods of Payment

The way you choose to pay the agreed Accommodation Price is up to you. You can choose to make a lump sum Refundable Accommodation Payment (RAD) or you can pay the equivalent interest on this lump sum as a Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP). Alternatively you can pay the Accommodation Price by a combination of a RAD and a DAP.

Note that any RAD paid is fully refundable unless you have chosen to make any payments from this deposit.

A Daily Accommodation Payment is calculated by multiplying any unpaid RAD by the MPIR, divided by 365 days. (The MPIR at 1st January 2024 is 8.38%, and is set by the government and revised quarterly.)

Calculated Examples

If you chose to pay the Accommodation Payment of $450,000 as a DAP, this equates to a payment of $103.32 per day (at the current MPIR). This amount is billed monthly.

If half of the $450,000 Accommodation Payment is paid as a RAD the outstanding balance of $225,000 will incur a DAP of $51.66.

Government Assistance

If you are eligible for government assistance with your accommodation costs, Services Australia (formerly Centrelink) will advise us, and you, of the Daily Accommodation Contribution (DAC) you are liable for. This amount applies if you choose to pay your accommodation contribution entirely by daily payments.

You can choose to reduce the Daily Accommodation Contribution by making a Refundable Accommodation Contribution and we will calculate a reduced DAC amount for you. The RAC and DAC only applies if you are eligible for government assistance with accommodation costs.

Basic Daily Fees - All care recipients entering Residential Aged Care are required to pay the Basic Daily Fee irrespective of their financial circumstances.

The Basic Daily Fee contributes to ‘hotel’ type services (cleaning, catering, laundry, utilities and maintenance).

As a broad guide the Basic Daily Fee is approximately 85% of the Age Pension and is payable whether you receive the age pension or are self funded. The Basic Daily Fee is paid by Direct Debit from your nominated bank account fortnightly in advance.

Means Tested Care Fee - Some care recipients may be assessed as being able to financially contribute to the cost of their care.

If the care recipient’s financial assessment identifies a capacity to contribute towards the cost of their care, CentreLink or the Department of Veterans Affairs will advise both ourselves and the care recipient of the required contribution payable.

Means Tested Care Fees are subject to annual and lifetime caps.

Additional Services Fee - 'Bethsalem Plus' is a package of services for which a small daily fee is payable. Talk to our team to learn more.

Bethsalem Care is well known for its premium level of services, which are not funded from other sources. By packaging together these services, residents contribute to the cost of a wide range of services that improve the quality of life available at Bethsalem Care. The daily fee for Bethsalem Plus is $6.95 and assists to cover: premium clothes labeling, high speed wireless internet, dedicated in-room telephone service (including local, interstate and mobile calls), access to onsite pastoral care team, fresh towels daily, testing and tagging of electrical items, dedicated personal mobility aids, assistance with online shopping, access to private function rooms for family gatherings, 50″ wall mounted flat screen smart TV, chef prepared meals daily and much much more.

Other Optional Services available at resident’s cost include: Pharmaceutical costs, hairdressing, complimentary therapies, relaxation massage, newspapers, streaming services (ie Foxtel) and purchases made at our Sails Café. If these Optional Services are used and provided by us, fees will be identified on monthly statements and will be direct debited from the nominated bank account.
